 Basic Relationship Training (BRT)

Whether you are in a happy relationship and want to stay that way, having issues you would like help with, or planning to commit/marry and want to know how to preserve all that is great in your relationship, this program is for you.  Designed to enhance operational readiness and improve the well being of military couples, Basic Relationship Training (BRT) seeks to support and strengthen program participants and their partners through three major program components: relationship building, health promotion and, spiritual encouragement and support.  Couples will learn how to communicate effectively, work as a team to solve problems, identify expectations and hidden issues, effectively manage conflicts, and preserve and enhance commitment, fun, friendship and sensuality.

Remember, BRT is not counselling or a treatment program, but rather strives to support and strengthen participants and relationships and focuses on preventing problems before they happen.  The program consists of six-sessions held over two days, totalling thirteen hours.

Topics covered within the program include:

  • Recognizing the danger signs
  • Talking safely without fighting
  • When What You Heard Isn’t
  • What I Said
  • Handling Issues and Events Well
  • Unravelling the Mysteries of Expectations
  • Problem Solving
  • Playing Together
  • Preserving and Protecting Friendship
  • Keeping Conflict Under Control
  • Core Beliefs
  • Sense and Sensuality
  • Forgiveness
  • Commitment

We feel that attendance and participant are critical to the continuity of the subject matter and to be able to properly learn and apply the techniques.
