Alcohol, Other Drug & Gambling Supervisory Training (AODGST)

Alcohol, drug and gambling issues have various implications on the physical and mental health of individuals, as well as the operational readiness and safety of both Canadian Force members and the public.  In order to alleviate and potentially eliminate the effects of these issues, the Canadian Forces have specifically developed the Alcohol, Other Drug & Gambling Supervisory Training (AODGST).  The AODGST program will not qualify participants to be considered as counsellors.  Instead, the goals of this two day course is to create an awareness, avoid enabling and to prepare personnel in leadership positions to deal with issues of alcohol misuse, drug use/abuse and gambling issues within their units.

Specific topics include:

  • Recognizing the warning signs of issues concerning alcohol, drug use and gambling
  • Applying DND policies on alcohol, drugs and gambling
  • Understanding the role of the supervisor in promoting an addiction-free working environment
  • Understanding and changing the culture of an organization

There are twelve modules to the program.  Each can be used individually or as a complete program.
