Mess Dress Policy


 DRESS POLICY - FROM EGOM CONSTITUTION
 
39. A member is responsible for the conduct and dress of any guest introduced to the Mess. The member will assume the whole cost of the entertainment of personal guests.

42. Dress. Dress regulations are published at Annex A.

ANNEX A - MESS DRESS INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL
1. Edmonton Garrison has published a document concerning and entitled "General Instructions and Information on Dress." It is each officer's responsibility to be acquainted with and adhere to those instructions. Specific dress regulations as they apply to the Mess are outlined below.


2. Dress regulations apply to guests as well as members. It is the responsibility of the host to ensure they are observed.

ORDERS OF DRESS

3. The following orders of dress are authorized in the Mess:
Order of Dress Gentlemen 

Formal Mess Dress; or Black Tie.  

Ladies

Mess Dress; or Ball Gown/Cocktail Dress.

Informal Service Dress (Number 3)
     (Number 3B Short Sleeve
     when ordered);

Lounge Suit/Business Suit
     (with Shirt and Tie); or

Sports Jacket or Blazer and
     (Slacks (with Shirt and Tie). Service Dress (Number 3)
     Number (3B Short Sleeve
     when ordered);

Dress, Suit, coordinated
     Pantsuit

Long Skirt or Crepe Pants
     (with Dressy Blouse,
     Sweater or Shirt)
Casual (1) Military Dress of the Day;

Sports Jacket or Blazer and
     Slacks (with Turtleneck
     Sweater, Ascot or
     Open-Collared Shirt); or

Sweater and Slacks (with
     Turtleneck Sweater, Ascot
     or Open-Collared Shirt) Military Dress of the Day

Skirt (with Blouse, Sweater or
     Shirt);

Jumper (with Blouse, Sweater
     or Shirt); or

Tailored Slacks/Dress Cords
     (with Blouse, Sweater or
     Shirt)
Relaxed Respectable relaxed attire including T-shirts, shorts, jeans, and athletic/recreational wear (swimwear excluded). Shirts and footwear must be worn at all times.

5. The following dress regulations apply to specific areas within the Mess and are considered the minimum acceptable standard:

Area of Mess Dress Notes
Main Lounge Informal Anytime and as specified.
 Casual Anytime unless informal is specified.
 Relaxed Only when specified.
Dining Room Informal Anytime and as specified.
 Casual Anytime unless informal is specified.
 Relaxed Only when specified.
 Physical Fitness Attire Clean physical training attire is authorized in the Dining Room only between 0700 – 0900 hours, Monday to Friday.
Lower Bar Informal Anytime and as specified.
 Casual Anytime unless informal is specified.
 Relaxed A Unit CO may authorize relaxed dress for unit personnel at any time in the Lower Bar. (2)

MILITARY DRESS OF THE DAY
6. personnel may wear military dress of the day in all areas of the Mess, except when informal dress codes are in effect in specified area(s).
PROHIBITED WEAR
7. Hats and outerwear (e.g. parkas and coats) shall not be worn in the Mess.
8. Except for costumes or other specially designated wear, mixed military/civilian attire and unkempt or generally tasteless clothing are prohibited.

(1) Slacks and dress cords mean tailored slacks or cords without patch pockets on the back (Levi cords are not acceptable). Denim is not acceptable.
(2) Relaxed dress for other areas of the mess may only be authorized after the CO has notified the PMC.
