Special Events
In addition to the delivery of Sports, Fitness and
Recreation Programs and/or services, there are
numerous Special Interests/Events/Activities
taking place at 5 Wing.
Wing Commander's Golf Tournament - held
annually in September. It gives the CF and
Defence team members a chance to mingle in a
friendly golf challenge.
Terry Fox Run - 5 Wing Goose Bay participates
annually in the Terry Fox Run held in September.
The goal is to raise money for cancer research.
Winter Carnival - This is the longest standing
carnival in Canada. The carnival happens each
year with fun activities for the CF community.
Family Fun Day - The Wing holds a Family Fun
Day each year in September for the CF Community. The day starts with a pancake
breakfast & scavenger hunt followed by games
and treats for all.
Spring BBQ - takes place in April for the
Military member and therir dependants. A BBQ
followed by games and a movie.
Guy Fawkes Night - Community Council holds a
bonfire annually in November to celebrate the
Gunpowder Plot of November 1605.
Volunteer Banquet - A banquet is sponsored each
year in April to show appreciation to our volunteers through out the year.
Northern Entertainment Show Tour - The Tour
performs three shows annually in December, to
provide morale and welfare to the CF Community.
Labrador Canoe Regatta - 5 Wing puts in a team
in this annual event held on the civic holiday in
August. If you are interested in joining the team

Skate With Santa - PSP organizes a skate with Santa at the EJ Broomfield Arena in Happy Valley
Goose Bay for the CF Community. Refreshment,
snacks and treats with Santa after the skate.
Mother:s Day & Father's Day Brunch - held jointly
by PSP and Community Council.
Graduation Meal - PSP and Community Council
organized a meal & games nignt for all children
from K - grade 12 in the CF Community.
Family Halloween Party - Community Council participates in an annual Family Halloween Party, with lots of games, haunted house, treat bags and prizes.
Children's Christmas Party - PSP in partnerships
with Community Council organizes a children's
christmas party with games, treats and a visit
from Santa.
Cultural Awareness Tours - PSP provides tours
to points of interest in Newfoundland and Labrador for the CF Community.
