Hartlen Point Golf Club is considered by those in the golfing community to be one of the most challenging and scenic golf courses in Nova Scotia. With 18 holes measuring 6,300 yards, it is affectionately known as the course by the sea. The club is located at the end of Shore Road in Eastern Passage 12 kilometres from Dartmouth, a 25-minute drive from downtown Halifax, and a 40- minute drive from the Halifax International Airport. The course is carved out of natural growth woods and built around the site of a closed artillery coastal defence fortification.

The course has sharply contrasting front and back nines. The front nine plays a 2,868-yard par 37 that was built through forest. The front is tight and demands accuracy over distance in shot making. The back nine plays a 3,379-yard par 34 that is more open with fewer trees and a few reminders of the area's old military days. Being more open, the back gives players an opportunity to grip it and rip it without worrying about an occasional errant shot. With the ever-present wind and three par 3s on the back, the difference between the nines is like night and day.

Facilities include a full service clubhouse with restaurant and bar service as well as a fully stocked pro shop. Practice facilities include a driving range and two practice greens. Instruction programs are available and can be booked by calling the pro shop.

Membership packages vary in size from 30 round packages to unlimited rounds. Hartlen Point also has one of the best junior programs in HRM for those with children looking to take up the game.

Discounted rates are available to Canadian Forces, DND and NPF civilian personnel, retirees and their families, CANEX and PSP identification card holders. Military, DND and NPF personnel can also request an access number, which will allow them to make tee time requests up to seven days in advance through our automated tee time system. Hartlen Point has hosted the most prestigious tournaments in Nova Scotia gold including the provincial amateur, senior and junior golf championships. Course condition and customer service are our top priorities.

For more information contact the pro shop at 465-3038. Be sure to visit the club's website at www.hartlenpoint.com for more information regarding membership prices and hours of operation.
