Porteous Field (Is open 23 May until 24 September)

Located at CFB Halifax, Porteus Field field is 110 yards long and was designed for the Canadian Football League rules. Football is no longer played in the Canadian Forces with the exception of the annual mini-Gray cup(played between the Ward Room and the Fleet Club).

The primary sport played on Porteous Field is soccer, and the track along the outside of the field is 360 yards measured one foot from the inside of the track

Windsor Park Ball Diamonds (Open May long weekend, Closed third week September)

There are two softball ball diamonds located on Connelly Street across from the PMQ’s. Ball diamond 1 has lights and is fenced and it also has dugouts. The distance from home plate to the left field fence is 231 feet and 252 to center. Diamond 2 is fenced in, but doesn’t have lights or dug outs, the distance from home plate to fence is 202 feet the distance to center field is 196 feet. The playing surface on 1 diamond is ball field mix and is usually out of play for up to three days after raining. Diamond 2 has crusher dust surface which allows the diamond to be ready within a day or sooner.

Shannon Park Fields 

The Shannon Park Fields include a variety of Football, Soccer and Rugby fields, all available for booking throught the Stadacona Facility Coordinator at 721-8412.
