Chaplains contribute to the operational readiness and sustainability of MARLANT/JTFA by providing pastoral care and spiritual support to members of the defence team. They offer counselling, crisis intervention, and the provision of religious services.
Chaplain services are available in Stadacona, Dockyard, Windsor Park and 12 Wing Shearwater. Padres are also located in the CF Naval Operations School, CF Naval Engineering School, FMF Cape Scott, the Military Family Resource Centre, and Formation Health Services. Fleet Chaplains deploy with Canadian Fleet Atlantic in support of their operations. An Emergency Chaplain is available during silent hours and on weekends.
Sunday worship is offered weekly in Shearwater at the combined Chapel. English Mass is at 0945 and the Protestant service follows at 1115. Weekday Masses are held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 1130.
A full slate of services is offered at the Stadacona Faith Centre. The centre is comprised of St. Brendan’s Chapel, the Chapel of Remembrance and the Gathering Place (interfaith) at Stadacona, Building S7. On Sundays, French Mass begins at 1015, and English Mass is offered at 1115 in St Brendan’s. St. Brendan’s Chapel also offers daily Mass on Wednesdays at 1400. A midday ecumenical prayer service, (the weekly Service of Remembrance for those who have died in Naval service), is offered every Friday at 1130 in the Chapel of Remembrance. Muslim Friday prayer services will be starting in the near future (call 721-8660 for details). Please note that ID is required for entrance at the Stadacona main gate during silent hours and on the weekend.
MARLANT/JTFA Chaplains comprise many Christian denominations as well as the Muslim faith.
Our chapels are busy with a full program of activities. We invite you to join us in worship and fellowship.
