Program Links

Mental Health Services (MHS) consists of four programs offering a variety of treatment and counselling services aimed at assisting military personnel and/or their families with mental health, social and spiritual concerns.

Psychosocial Services:
  • PSS:  direct access (medical referral not required)

  • Individual, couple and family counselling

  • Information and referral services

  • Administrative assessments (e.g., compassionate, contingency, out-of-country posting screening)

  • Addiction consultation (screening, education)

  • Pre/post deployment screening

  • Presentations and briefings

Spiritual Care:

  • SC:  direct access or medical referral

  • Spiritual care and pastoral counselling (not religion specific)

  • Individual counselling (e.g., hope, spiritual growth and healing, grief and bereavement, meaning and purpose in life)

Addiction Prevention and Treatment Program:

  • APTP:  direct access or medical referral

  • Full assessment (e.g., alcohol, other drugs, gambling, gaming and other addictions)

  • Substance-abuse intervention (3-day)

  • Intensive group treatment (30-day)

  • Individual counselling and psychotherapy

  • Outreach presentations

  • One-year follow-up care

Operational Trauma and Stress Support Centre:

  • OTSSC:  medical referral required

  • Assessments and treatment for mental disorder secondary to an operational/ occupational exposure, including (but not limited to) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

  • Family educational program

General Mental Health:

  • GMH:  medical referral required

  • Assessment, education, counselling, and psychotherapy, monitoring and follow-up.
