RCAF compete in Canada Sings!

A team of RCAF musicians from Winnipeg is participating in the Canada Sings TV program. They are competing on behalf of the Support Our Troops Fund. Some of the people involved in this project also provided their professional skills to our Support Our Troops CD project.

The program is not elimination based. Each episode features 2 organizations performing and competing head-to-head. The winner receives $10,000 for the cause of their choice and the looser gets $2000. The causes espoused by both teams gets visibility on the show and may also benefit from additional donations directly from the viewing public.

The CF Sports Program has played a vital role in the development of sport in Canada and is designed to promote fitness and good health to our CF members. This premiere running event is one of the best-organized and most popular running events in the CF and in the province of Nova Scotia and attracts over 600 runners from across the province. This annual event takes place in Sept. at McDonald Beach. The race consists of three legs: a 300m swim, 6.5km bike, and 2km run. This event is open to teams and individuals. This 55-acre, scenic resort and peaceful atmosphere is located less than an hour from Halifax in Lower Vaughan, near Windsor, Nova Scotia. This facility attracts approximately 40,000 personnel annually. In 2010, Canada's Navy marked its 100th anniversary of service to our country. Our theme was to "Bring the Navy to Canadians" by honouring the past, showcasing the current and reinforcing the need for a navy in our future. Halifax was a gateway to the world as Canada’s Navy hosted an International Fleet Review as part of its Centennial celebrations. Warships from various nations arrived to the Halifax harbour, with more than 5,000 sailors on boards. This unique event is co-hosted by Commander Joint Task Forces Atlantic and by His Worship, the Mayor of the City of Halifax. The mess dinner is steeped with tradition and ceremony. This popular tournament hosted by the Base Commander is held in the fall of the year at Hartlen Point Forces Golf Course. This event attracts over 30 teams and includes meals and prizes. Canadian Forces Halifax Personnel Support Programs in partnership with the Halifax Moosehead Hockey Club pay tribute to DND personnel by show casing and paying tribute to our military community with two hockey games. For the first time ever in Canada, the stars come out to shine in a power-packed hour-long live show when Christmas Playdate with Max and Ruby, Miss Spider, and the Bananas in Pyjamas.
