If your unit or section is looking for something fun to do this summer, why not book a beach party at MacDonald Beach?
Located off Caldwell Road in Shearwater, MacDonald Beach is the ideal location for families to relax on a hot summer day or for companies or sections to hold summer BBQs.
If booking a function, rental includes a covered pavilion and industrial size propane BBQ. Just bring your food and cooking utensils and you are all set. We also have an on-site bar facility. Whenever any group holds a function and it wishes to have alcohol, it MUST be purchased through the bar at the beach. Groups will NOT be able to serve and sell alcohol at functions. The beach canteen also serves up tasty treats.
For your entertainment, we have horseshoe pits, a beach volleyball court and a playground for the children. If your group wishes to bring in additional attractions such as bounce castles we are more than happy to accommodate your requests. We also offer a supervised waterfront for safety.
The beach is open from Thursday until Sunday throughout July and August. The beach is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

DID YOU KNOW... If you have a Gym Access Pass (GAP Pass) you have unlimited access to MacDonald Beach! Contact a Military Gym for information on how to purchase a pass.
Military members with ID cards are not required to pay a drop in fee or have a beach pass. Family members, however, are required to have a gym pass or pay the drop-in fee.

Directions
After arriving in Dartmouth off of the
Mackay Bridge:
- Head northeast on NS-111 S (7.8km)
- Take exit 7E to merge on to Portland St/ NS-207 E toward Woodlawn Road. Cole Harbour. Continue to follow NS-207E (3.2km).
- Turn right onto Caldwell Rd (4.5km).
- Sharp right turn onto MacDonalds Beach Road (Marked by sign)
- Follow gravel road to beach.
- PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AS MACDONALD BEACH STAFF WILL BE ON THE ROAD COLLECTING BEACH ENTRANCE FEES.
Directions from Angus L. MacDonald Bridge:
After arriving in Dartmouth off of the MacDonald Bridge:
- Take an immediate right on to Wyse Rd. (400m)
- Turn Left on to Windmill Rd./ NS-7 Trunk E (1.5k)
- Turn Right on to Pleasant St./ NS-322 S (4.1k)
- Continue on Pleasant St. You will pass the oil refinery on the right as well as 12 Wing Shearwater on the Left.
- Turn Left on to Hines Rd.
- Stay left when Hines Rd. Turns into Caldwell Rd.
- Turn Left on to MacDonalds Beach Road (Marked by sign)
- Follow gravel road to beach.
- PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AS MACDONALD BEACH STAFF WILL BE ON THE ROAD COLLECTING BEACH ENTRANCE FEES.
