BUTT OUT (Self Help) Smoking Cessation
Duration: 8 weeks
The BUTT OUT Self Help program covers the same 14 steps to smoking cessation as the Small Group, but participants are only required to attend the two 1/2 hour meetings, approximately two weeks apart. BUTT OUT facilitators are available to provide assistance to participants during the quitting process. Military members may be eligible to get nicotine gum, the nicotine patch or the bupropion(Zyban) pill at DND expense if participating in the BUTT OUT program.
BUTT OUT- Small Group Smoking Cessation
Duration: 12 week program, with 8 sessions
BUTT OUT can help identify individual personal reasons for smoking then help develop and practice substitutes for smoking that do the same good things, without the negative long-term effects caused by smoking. BUTT OUT can also help the individual overcome the addiction to nicotine. Military members may be eligible to get nicotine gum, the nicotine patch or the bupropion(Zyban) pill at DND expense if participating in BUTT OUT. Research shows that the best success rates come from a combination of behaviour modification, group support and medications to help reduce nicotine withdrawal. BUTT OUT gives you all these things.
STRESS MANAGEMENT
Duration: 8 week program, with 8, 2.5-hour sessions
At the end of the program, participants will have developed their understanding of stress reaction in the military context; assessed their individual level of stress using "Essi Systems Stress Map"; and chosen and practiced specific coping mechanisms that they will use in everyday life.
TOP FUEL FOR TOP PERFORMANCE (Nutrition for Action)
Duration: 2.5 days, 0800 - 1600 hours
The Top Fuel for Top Performance program provides up to date, accurate nutritional information for individuals who are physically active, training for specific athletic events or preparing to deploy. The course offers practical information on what, when and why you should eat and drink to ensure you perform at your best.
Top Fuel for Top Performance is not a replacement for detailed, individualized counselling from a dietician as would be needed for any individual requiring a special diet because of health issues such as food allergies, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis...etc.
Similarly, counselling from a dietician may be beneficial to individuals who restrict food selection for special diets such as vegetarian eating styles.

Weight Wellness offers a safe and effective approach to managing your weight. The program takes a self-directed approach to behaviour change. Throughout the program, participants develop a personalized Blueprint for weight management and develop new skills to manage their eating habits and physical activity for a lifetime. The course is interactive, combining physical activity and nutrition information.
