Advanced Fitness Training Assistant (AFTA)
The aim of the course is to teach military members advanced operational type fitness training. It will teach them how to meet the needs of the tactical athlete. This operational based training will enhance the operational readiness of the individual and his/her unit.
During this 2 week course you will learn how to:
§ Explain the combat fitness program
§ Identify advanced exercise safety concerns
§ Demonstrate/conduct combat fitness conditioning / physical fitness session
§ Conduct obstacle physical fitness training
§ Conduct operational based physical fitness skills training
§ Conduct competitive fitness games
§ Conduct orienteering
You have to meet the following prerequisites to attend this course:
§ BFTA qualified for at least 1 year and involved with the unit’s/school’s PT program on regular basis
§ Incentive-exempt in the CF EXPRES Program, or have successfully completed the LFCPFS (13-km wt load march and casualty evacuation) in the past 12 months
§ Rank of MCpl. and above
§ Currently qualified in Standard First Aid and CPR
§ Medical standards: V CV H G O A
