Total Body Resistance Band Workout

Description:

The resistance band workout is for beginner/intermediate and advanced exercisers and includes basic moves for the entire body by using a resistance band. This workout focuses more on endurance, so adjust your hand position or the position of your body to get the most tension out of each move. If anything feels too easy, try using a heavier band with more tension.

Resistance bands come in different levels.  PSP carries small, medium, large, extra-large.  The larger the girth of the band the more difficult the movements, so choose accordingly.

How does the Resistance Band Work?

By stretching an elastic band and then holding it apart with your muscles, the acceleration factor built into the elasticity of the band is transferred to your muscles. You are now conditioning them to respond just like a rubber band, and that is to accelerate or contract with amazing speed when stretched.

The reason why your muscles will do this is because they are 'elastic' in nature as well.

It is simply a matter of physics behind the strategy and is why, and only why, isometric training with the resistance band is your best speed training technique.

The combination of isometric training along with the resistance band has the effect of training and conditioning your muscles for a pure speed of contraction function.

This is why training your muscles to become very fast and to respond very quickly can best be accomplished by using an elastic band along with isometric training, which is essentail for our CF.

The result of using a resistance band exercise with isometrics, the way we teach it, is that the fast twitch fibres, which are normally ignored when using weights and repetitions, are now conditioned for speed and quickness, and perhaps for the first time.

Isometric training programs, properly using exercise bands, provide an excellent, yet easy to do workout that will isolate, strengthen, and quicken specific muscle groups in the body. You will probably realize that you are training muscles that have previously been underdeveloped.

This is because you will be training them specifically for speed and quickness, and not strength or endurance. Though as the muscle matures in speed you will see the added benefit of an increase in strength as well.
