Step Class

Description: One of the most popular forms of aerobic workouts is step class.

Essentially a step class involves the use of a raised platform on which a series of exercises are performed under the guidance of an instructor. Music is played to keep things moving at a rhythmic pace.

Risers are used to raise the platform to increase the challenge of the exercises. You're probably best starting out with just one riser.

Step clases can range from basic beginner stepping to highly advanced rhymical movements, yet reagardless of which movements you are completing, you are sure to get a great cardio workout.

Your instructor will explain how best to negotiate the exercises using the platform until you're ready to go for the full choreography. It's an excellent way to burn those unwanted calories. It's also particularly good for building strength in your legs and toning your posterior. As an aerobic form of exercise, it helps to strengthen your heart and lungs. This in turn improves your blood circulation and lowers the risk of developing heart disease, including heart attacks and strokes.

Regular practice is the way to get in shape. Many instructors also include some exercises for the arms and neck to give your body an overall work out.

Most participants say they enjoy the enthusiasm of the energetic atmosphere and the feeling of getting their blood pumping in a way that also helps develop coordination and rhythm.

PSP step classes typically run 60 minutes in length and choices are available for beginner, mixed or high intensity classes.  If you have a mixed fitness level group, let us know at booking time and we will give options on how to change movements so that all participants receive a great workout!

Equipment you will require: wokout clothes, clean indoor running shoes, a towel (for your face) and water bottle - very important to drink a lof of water throughout this class as fluid replacement is essential!
