Military Fitness Classes

The Shilo Fitness Department is devoted to offering an elevated level of Physical Fitness to all Units and personnel on Base. Physical Fitness plays a fundamental part in the effectiveness of soldiers in the land force Command. To ensure vigour, alertness and stamina in the performance of duties and operations, soldiers must collectively train and maintain high aerobic capacity, muscular strength/endurance/power, flexibility, and a healthy body composition. Achieving these goals will bring many benefits for both operational requirements and overall health and wellness to every member of the CF.

UNIT PT
Our Unit PT classes provide safe and effective workouts which include a proper warm-up, cool down and stretching component. Our staff can lead classes for 5-50 people in a variety of locations, with or without equipment. We offer over 30 classes that can vary in complexity and intensity. Upon request the calibre of a class can reflect the varying fitness, skill, and experience levels of any particular group. Class intensity can range from low to moderate to high and the complexity level can be beginner or advanced. Requests regarding specific training goals (improve push ups, balance etc) fitness components (focus on strength, cardio etc) and equipment (kettlebells, resistance bands etc) are also welcome.

EVENT PREPARATION
We offer classes that aid in the preparation for popular events that CF members regularly participate in such as Mountain Man, the Nijmegen March, and the Canadian Death Race.

SPECIALIST TRAINING
We offer a weekly training camp that caters to individuals who plan to apply for employment in a specialist trade such as JTF2, CSOR and SAR-TECH. Classes run every Wednesday from 1145-1245 hrs with a minimum of 2 participants (meet at front desk of GSH gym). All apparently healthy CF members are welcome.
