Strengthening the Forces

Strengthening the Forces (StF) is a health promotion program designed by Director General Health Services to assist members of the Defence Team to take control of their health and wellbeing. Programs are open to Regular and Reserve Force members, their families, and, if space allows, civilian employees. There is no charge to participants.

Reasons to Visit the Health Promotion Office:

1. To sign up or ask about one of our Strengthening the Forces programs: Managing Angry Moments, Stress:Take Charge, Basic Relationship Training (for couples), Alcohol Other Drugs and Gambling awareness modules, or ASIST (suicide prevention).

2. To quit smoking pick up a Butt Out self-help booklet and get other information on how to quit. (even if youre not quite ready to quit)

3. To ask us about providing a short briefing to your unit on a health related topic stress or anger management, nutrition, or suicide prevention.

4. To borrow a book from our lending library.

5. To get started on improving your eating habits borrow a cookbook, pick up information, weigh yourself, or sign up for the Weight Wellness program or the Top Fuel for Top Performance course.

6. You're in the CANEX anyway so you decide to drop by and just say hello.

7. To browse through our display rack and pick up information on a variety of topics.

8. To find out contact information for other helping outlets on base and in Brandon.
