The CFB Suffield Recreation Centre, building R1, is located on the corner of Dugway Drive and Larkhill Lane in the Crown Village of Ralston.  The Recreation Centre portion of the building consists of a Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Squash Court, Weight Room, Aerobics Room, Sport Stores and change rooms.  A DND/Military ID card or PSP User Pass is required for access to all recreation facilities.

Gymnasium - While primary users are the military and the school, open recreation times are available.  Children over the age of eight years and have a PSP User Pass are permitted in the gym without parental supervision.  Rules must be adhered to and proper fitness or sporting attire must be worn.  Bookings can be made with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by calling 403-544-4011 ext 5569.  Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 0630-2200 hours*, Saturday, Sunday & Holidays 0900-2100 hours*.

Pool Closure details/information

Swimming Pool - As the pool is an indoor facility it is available year-round with the exception of the yearly maintenance and cleaning period.  Public swims are a great way to cool down in the summer and stay fit during the winter.  There is also a sunning deck off the pool that can be used in the summer months during public swim times.  Pool activities include: Red Cross Swimming Lessons - for children of all ages and levels.  These lessons teach everything from water safety to advanced stroke correction and endurance; Aquacise - also known as water aerobics, is great for all no matter what their fitness level or age; Swim Fit - is a pay-as-you-go program to strengthen and build your swimming skills as well as stroke correction; Lane Swim - for lane swim timings contact the Recreation Centre Administration office at 403-544-4011 ext 5570.

Squash Court - The squash court is available for bookings, no more than one day in advance, Monday-Sunday by calling 403-544-4011 ext 5570.  Goggles which are mandatory are provided for use during play.  Non-marking soles must be worn while on the squash court.  Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Weight Room - Located in the upper level of the Recreation Centre, the weight room is fully equipped with free weights and weight machines.  Users must be 16 years of age or older and must adhere to the posted weight room rules.

Aerobics Room - Also located in the upper level of the Recreation Centre must be booked in advance.  The aerobics room is used for aerobics classes, body pump, as well as dance, spinning and exercise classes.  The main office holds several DVD's and video tapes that can be signed out and used in this room when it has not been previously booked.  Aerobics Classes - are held from 1210-1250 hours on Monday/Wednesday/Friday.  There is no fee for this class and is open to all Base employees as well as members of the community.  Body Pump - which is similar to aerobics but includes some resistance training and muscle strengthening exercises takes place on Tuesday/Thursday 0915-1030 hours.

Aerobic Area - The aerobics area which is also located on the upper level of the Recreation Centre is equipped with cardio machines which include elliptical trainers, treadmills, rowing machines and stationary bikes.  A minimum age of 16 is required to use the equipment.

Sport Stores - The Sport Stores provides the CF Military members with their initial PT strip.  Additional pieces can be purchased at the member's expense from the Sport Stores.  Contact the Recreation Centre Administration office at 403-544-4011- ext 5570 for prices.  Some of the equipment available to military members for signing out includes; baseball kits, hockey equipment, canoes and more.  NOTE:  The Sport Stores does not carry hockey skates, bicycles, ski equipment or towels.  Contact the Sport Storesperson at 403-544-4011 ext 5569.
