Canadian Forces (CF) members must be physically fit to meet military operational requirements, to perform under a wide range of geographical and environmental conditions, to cope with the stress of sustained operations and to be ready to respond on short notice. Physical Fitness Training for military members is outlined in CFAO 50-1.

Kayak/Canoe Orientation
Taking place in the pool, our staff will show you the basics to the canoe or kayak. We will practice boat entry and tipping as well as recovery and water safety. This workshop is a must for those participating on adventure training, but also a great idea for anyone wanting to feel confident on the water. Class size limited to 10 participants.

Back Power Workshop
Almost all Canadians will experience some form of back pain at some point in their lives. This workshop will test your current physical condition of your back and supply you with techniques and exercises to help prevent back problems.

Strength/Weight Training Workshop
Learn the basics of the weight room: find out about sets, supersets, reps, periodization and other components of training. We will show you how to set up an effective program designed to achieve your goals.

Warm-up/Cool-down Workshop
Being prepared for a workout and recovering afterwards are important aspects of fitness. Learn appropriate warm-ups for your program and also the corresponding cool-down. We will show you the relevance of each to make your workout more enjoyable. Come prepared to be active.

Have you had problems preparing for your EXPRES test? Want to know the most effective way of achieving your testing goals? This seminar will give you training tips so you can be at your best on testing day.

Fitness for the Older Canadian Seminar
This seminar will look at the importance of staying fit as we age and will provide fitness methods for the older adult. We will look at the main concerns for this demographic and how a program can be adapted to suit the participant so they can achieve and maintain their goals.

Flexibility and Relaxation Techniques
Flexibility is a component of fitness. This workshop will take you through stretching techniques for every muscle group. You will learn how to relax as you stretch and get more from your routine. We will show you relaxation techniques to help deal with stress and anxiety.

Lifestyle Clinic
This clinic will examine the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of making behaviour changes. We will assist participants on behaviour modification and provide a template for their change that includes fitness, nutrition, leisure and stress management.

Learn to Run Workshop
If you have never been a "runner" before or if you are coming back from a hiatus, this clinic will give you the tools to run a continuous 5k. We will discuss shoes, programs, gate, frequency, tools, nutrition, etc. Come prepared with questions; you will leave with the desire to lace up your shoes. This clinic is a lecture followed by a run/walk.
