Recreation Activities

The CRA offers a variety of programs for your recreational interests. Our line-up of programs varies and is based on in-put from our users. So if you don't see a program here that interests you, just give us a call.

NEW Mix-it-up Sports (45 minutes)
Join us for a rotational sports program where we focus on a different sport every week. We promote and encourage participation regardless of ability level, and allow participants to experience various sports. Each week participants will have the chance to learn a new sport, a new set of skills and make new friends! Participants will have the opportunity to play, Basketball, Badminton, Floor Hockey, Indoor Soccer, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and more.

NEW Zumbatonic (Zumba for Kids!)
(50 Minutes)

What is Zumbatonic? Kids love to crank up the music, shake, wiggle and have a blast with their friends.  So why not get fit while they're at it?  It's set to various dance styles such as hip hop, salsa, reggae and more.  It is simply the dance fitness sensation of the moment and kids absolutely love it!  The music is amazing and the dance moves are cleverly choreographed so that kids can easily 'learn the whole dance' within a short space of time.

Designed for kids aged 4 to 12 years.

NEW Kidz Night Out

If you are between the ages of 8 and 12 years old, you are invited to join us and some new friends for a fun-filled evening of sports, swimming and games. Each evening will begin with a pizza dinner and will end with a spectacular swim. Wow!

NEW Kookin' with Kidz
Does your child constantly follow you around the kitchen asking you "What are you making for dinner?", "What’s that?", "What’s this?", and the list goes on. This workshop provides a great opportunity for kids to learn the basics of cooking, while creating a delicious, healthy, nutritious home-made meal that everyone will enjoy! All participants will be provided with a booklet of the recipes that they’ve created and will be able to home. Parents, it is you’re your chance to ask the questions! Please specify any food allergies or restrictions when registering. Sorry no drop ins.

NEW Iron Chef
This is the opportunity for young chefs to develop leadership, teamwork, and culinary skills while gaining nutrition knowledge and a new appreciation for diverse, healthy and sustainably-produced food. In addition they learn about the food system and how they can play a role to help their friends and families make healthier food choices to prevent unhealthy weight and associated diseases.

NEW Indoor/Outdoor Trekking Group
Indoor/Outdoor Trekking is geared toward giving children the ability to try a diversity of outdoor adventures. This is a multi-facet program that will cover a wide variety of activities, such as tobogganing, canoeing, snow shoeing, swimming, skating, cooking and indoor/outdoor activities. Children aged 9-12 years old gain the experience of trying new activities, meeting friends, being physically active, learning basic survival skills, while learning to cook healthy delicious snacks.

Tae Kwon Do
(ages 12 and up, with adults)
Tae Kwon Do classes will instil greater flexibility, agility, physical coordination, mental and physical discipline and greater self control.  The skills learned in this program may some day be integrated into one's life.

Shinny Hockey
Full CSA hockey gear required. Rules are in effect.  No parents on the ice except for the volunteers in charge.

Much Video Dances
The Rec Association in partnership with the MFRC conduct monthly Much Video Dances on Saturday evenings at the Gym on the south side of the base.  These dances are fully chaperoned and are open to youth 11 to 16 years of age.
