Community Ice Times (Family Skate / Shinny)

Learn to Skate for Youngsters
4 to 7 years of age
We are hoping to be able to offer lessons on Friday evenings. At the time of print, the arena schedule was still being finalized.

This program is divided into 4 levels. Skaters are evaluated weekly by their coach. There are no formal "testing sessions" for learn to skate. The program consists of 50 minutes of ice time split up into 25 minutes of instruction and 25 minutes of practice time. The Instructor will divide the group based on their ability. Parents are not permitted on the ice during class instruction. Please speak with the instructor if you wish to volunteer during the practice portion of the program.

Learn to Skate for Youth
8 to 16 years of age and over
Similar to the Learn to Skate program for the younger children. Have you ever wanted to learn to skate? Haven't laced up the skates in awhile and are feeling a little rusty? Why not come out and give it a try.

Power Skating for Kids
Power skating provides co-ed instruction covering power development, power strides, starting, stopping, lateral mobility and power drills. This program will benefit kids who play hockey. Skaters must be at least 5 years old, be able to skate forwards, backwards and be able to come to a stop without running into the boards! Skaters will be broken up into groups depending on age, skills and ability.

(Full hockey equipment is required, including sticks and mouth guards)

Shinny Hockey
Starts the week of October 2nd, please check with RecPlex Reception for details

Full CSA hockey gear required. Rules are in effect. No parents on the ice except for the volunteers in charge.
