DENTAL DETACHMENT

The role of the Valcartier Dental Detachment is to provide the best possible dental care to service men and women posted to the Valcartier Garrison, in accordance with the Canadian Forces Dental Care Program. In addition to general yearly dental check ups and routine procedures, the Dental Detachment delivers dental care services on a priority basis to all military personnel assigned to UN missions and other operations.

The Detachment employs approximately 40 military and civilian personnel, including dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative personnel, each and every one of them dedicated to delivering courteous and efficient service.

The Detachment also operates a dental clinic at the Quebec Citadel, made up of one dentist, two assistants and a dental hygienist. This establishment serves those units located in the city of Quebec.

The Detachment maintains a 24/7 emergency service. For after-hours emergency dental care, the first contact is the Duty Dentist, who can be reached at 576-2826.

If the dentist cannot be reached, you can contact the dental assistant at 254-3449.

As a last resource, you may contact the Garrison Valcartier Duty Officer at 844-5000 extension 5777, who will call the dentist at home. The dentist will then evaluate the condition of the patient and, should it be necessary, will see the patient at the Detachment.

The Valcartier Dental Detachment is open from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, every day from Monday to Friday. For dental emergencies without an appointment, patients are asked to report to the Detachment at 7:30. The Citadel Dental Clinic is open from 7:30 am to 12 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. For dental emergencies without an appointment, patients are asked to report to the Citadel Dental Clinic at 7:30 am Monday to Wednesday or to the Valcartier Dental Detachment at 7:30 am Monday to Friday.

OPERATIONAL STRESS INJURY SOCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

The Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS) program was established to help members and veterans who suffer from injuries related to operational stress, as well as their families. The most convincing argument for calling on the peer support program is that the program  coordinators are fellow members or ex-CF members who have experienced similar hardships and who can listen without judging. We offer support to personnel who have to deal with death in the family, as well as speaker services that can help better understand operational stress injury

and address the stigma of mental illness. All you need to do is pick up the phone and give us a call. Confidentiality and privacy are assured.
