Canadian Forces (CF) members must be physically fit to meet military operational requirements, to perform under a wide range of geographical and environmental conditions, to cope with the stresses of sustained operations and to be ready to respond on short notice.

CF EXPRES INCENTIVE PROGRAM

QUALIFICATION FOR CF EXPRES EVALUATION EXEMPTION

The purpose of this program is to promote the demonstration of a superior level of physical fitness rather than performance at the minimal level as required in the MPFS.

To qualify for an exemption from the CF EXPRES evaluation under the CF EXPRES Incentive Program, a member must meet the MPFS for V02 max, handgrip, push-ups and sit-ups and attain the incentive scores designated for the V02 max and the muscular strength and endurance scores in the member's age group as shown in the CP EXPRES Incentive.

DURATION OF CF EXPRES EVALUATION EXEMPTION

A member who meets the qualifications specified under the CF EXPRES Incentive Program shall be exempted from the CF EXPRES evaluation for the following "year of evaluation and reporting" henceforth referred to "YEAR". The CF EXPRES YEAR is from calender date of evaluation (365 days). This means that if a member is evaluated and so qualifies on 01 May 2010, the member does not have to be re-evaluated until 01 May 2012 as the exemption is in effect for the YEAR beginning 01 May 2011.

EXPRES TESTING PROTOCOL

Prior to the individual(s) appointment they should not:

1)         Exercise the same day

2)         Consume alcohol for at least 6 hours prior

3)         Eat, smoke or drink tea or coffee for at least 2 hours before.

If protocol is not followed, the fitness staff will not proceed with the evaluation.

TESTING SCHEDULE - All tests are conducted at Bldg 90 Fitness & Recreation Centre

Monday 

20 MSR           0900hrs and 1300hrs      

**Step Tests       0830hrs - 1030hrs

Tuesday 

20 MSR           0900hrs and 1300hrs

**Step Tests       1300hrs - 1430hrs

Wednesday

20 MSR           0900hrs and 1300hrs

Thursday

20 MSR           0900hrs and 1300hrs

**Step Tests       1300hrs - 1430hrs

Friday

**Step Tests      0930hrs - 1030hrs

* Staff also administer testing in Portage La Prairie (Southport), Thunder Bay, Regina & Saskatoon.

** Step Tests are only conducted when members have a valid medical chit exempting them from the 20 MSR.
