Top Fuel For Top Performance

Proper food and nutrition is vital for the “soldier athlete”. If you are serious about getting the most out of your workouts, it is vital to regularly supply your body with nutritious foods. This workshop will provide you all the information you require to reach your top performance.

Workshop activities consist of:

  • examining your current eating habits, 
  • estimating daily energy output,
  • planning meals and snacks,  
  • timing your food relative to your physical activity and training,  
  • modifying your amount of food and type of activity according to your body composition and body weight goals,  
  • substituting foods or adding to your meals and snacks so that all needed nutrients are included, and  
  • fine-tuning your menus to benefit your health and lower your risk of disease.

Weight Wellness

The Weight Wellness Lifestyle program was developed by CF Health Services, Directorate of Force Health Protection as part of Strengthening the Forces (STF) health promotion programs for the CF.

 WEIGHT WELLNESS LIFESTYLE PROGRAM will help you :

  • Set realistic goals for losing weight and keeping it off.
  • Develop a healthy eating plan and adjust portion sizes for healthy weight loss.
  • Develop a physical activity plan to boost your metabolism.
    Understand and interpret nutrition labels and restaurant menus.
  • Get the lowdown on healthy meal planning and snacking.
  • Manage hunger and food cravings.
  • Tackle the common weight loss myths and fallacies.
  • Monitor your progress and help you stay on track.

In WEIGHT WELLNESS LIFESTYLE PROGRAM you will :

  • Attend 8 interactive workshops with special topics on nutrition, physical activity and behaviour modification.
  • Receive handouts and tools to get you on the right track for weight management.
  • Complete assignment activities such as recording your eating and activity patterns to understand and manage problem areas.
  • Develop a realistic action plan for a healthier lifestyle.

Vegetable and Fruit Campaign

The Strengthening the Forces Vegetable and Fruit Campaign runs annually from late September to early October.  The goal of the program is to encourage soldiers to eat their recommended daily servings of vegetables and fruit. The campaign includes a challenge that has the participants track their vegetable and fruit intake for 10 days and than record the results online.  Participants in the 4&3 or more per day Challenge! are eligible for prizes once they complete the online tracking.  Prizes are awarded at every base.  For more information on the Vegetable

Set Your Sights on Healthy Eating

This campaign promotes nutrition in the CF dining halls. It encourages soldiers to learn more about nutrition, eat better and have more energy at work and will improve their eating habits.  Look for this symbol on table toppers in the dining hall. The table toppers will help you evaluate your eating habits and increase your nutrition knowledge.  Set Your Sights on Healthy Eating is an ongoing campaign.  For more information about nutrition and improving your eating habits contact the the Health Promotions Office.
