The Denwood Outdoor Athletic Club

Welcome to the Denwood Outdoor Athletics Club (DOAC). Our club is open to both military and civilian members of all ages, abilities and experiences.  We offer our members weekly coaching and a supportive environment in which to challenge individual goals.

Mission Statement

Denwood Outdoor Athletics Club (DOAC) is dedicated to the development of athletes who are committed to the sport of Athletics and Cross-Country Skiing.  Our mission is to foster this development within our club by providing the best and most appropriate training programs, in a non-discriminatory, friendly, fun and competitive atmosphere and to provide opportunities for our athletes to participate in various local, provincial and national competitions.

Our History

DOAC was founded in 2007 as a Community/Base integrated, Non-Public funded Athletics club.  Club athletes have travelled to competitions throughout the province and nationally.

Training

Our principal goal is to provide an encouraging and supportive training environment.  The club meets twice each week for supervised training sessions led by coaches.

Spring, Summer and Fall

Wednesdays -  Members meet at 5:30pm at the Base Outdoor Track. Track activities include speed, plyometrics, and interval training under coach's supervision.

Sundays - Members meet for a long run at the Wainwright Communiplex at 1:00pm. Runs take place over a variety of locations and distances.  Alternately, runs may take place on Base trails. (Permission from Range Control local 1610 must be obtained before using trails within the Base Training Area).

Winter

Wednesdays - Members meet for training at 6:00pm at the Twin Rinks indoor track.  If conditions are favourable the run is outdoors.  If not, the run is done on the indoor track.

Sundays - Members meet for a long run at the Wainwright Communiplex at 1:00pm. Runs take place over a variety of locations and distances.  Alternately, runs may take place on the Base.

Cross Country Skiing

During the winter, Cross-Country Skiing is available to DOAC members.  The club sets ski tracks on the base and at the Wainwright Golf Course.  Skiers meet Saturday mornings for group skiing when conditions are favourable.  Beginner Ski Lessons for both members and non-members are available once a year by a certified National Instructor.  Rental equipment is available to members only.

DOAC Membership

DOAC Membership costs $20.00 to all members (plus GST)

DOAC is affiliated with CFB Wainwright Community Recreation Association (CRA).  As a requirement all individuals who are not CF Members and wish to become a DOAC member must take out a CFB Wainwright CRA membership.  Various options are available between $35.00 (One Club) to $50.00 per year.
